Only Daughter

From an early age, Sandra Cisneros has always wanted approval from her father. Sandra's father believed that Sandra had no business attending college, unless she were to find a husband. For example, in paragraph four she writes, "After four years in college and two more in graduate school, and still no husband, my father shakes his head even now and says i wasted all of that education." In retrospect, Sandra felt a sense of relief that her father believed that daughters meant for husbands. She had the ability to spend a lot of the time to herself and write her thoughts away.
